JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the general co-ordination of material purchasing and distribution as well as the efficient and effective supervision of the warehouse facilities and yard staff. The job holder will be skilled in inventory management to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse facility and timely ordering of materials. The job holder will also be responsible for the preparation, collation and filing of all H&S documents required for pre-qualification and the co-ordination, administration and implementation of new H&S directives as dictated by the H&S Administrator and/or changes in the law. Main Role: * Supervise the efficient and effective operation of the warehouse through actively monitoring the storage of materials and assisting in the movement of heavy goods/materials including loading/offloading of vans. * Purchase materials and equipment to meet project delivery dates and technical requirements. * Monitor material orders and progress chase to ensure timely deliveries and accurate specifications. * Check all materials upon arrival to ensure that they match the orders and adhere to quality standards. * Follow precise inventory system to ensure quick and easy access for delivery and scheduling of materials on time and to exact specification. * Supervise the yard staff to maintain a clean and safe environment for storage, loading and unloading of materials etc. * Act as a backup for the fitters in moving materials. * Liaise with office staff and surveyors regarding work schedules and ensure that all jobs are fully prepared in advance and properly documented. * Liaise with fitters to ensure all documentation is provided for installation and the correct materials loaded for the job. This will include quality checking of materials to ensure no damage prior to sending on site. * Prepare, collate, distribute and file H&S documents required for pre-qualification i.e. CHAS certification and progress chase to ensure that all directives are being followed and documents regularly updated. * Co-ordinate and implement new H&S directives and assist in Toolbox Talks to inform and engage staff in new initiatives and improved technical knowledge. Person Specification: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Practical ability/technical background * Numerate * Excellent organization and attention to detail * Demonstrated knowledge/experience of procurement * Excellent customer service * Flexible and supportive * Effective communication and supervisory skills * Self-motivated and multi-tasking * Strong and fit to carry heavy materials * Fluent spoken and written English * A full clean driving License and van driving experience essential Educational Requirements/Experience: * Technical background preferred i.e. Building or Engineering or equivalent experience/knowledge * Experience in operations, inventory management * MS Office proficiency required * Demonstrated supervisory skills
