JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a rapidly growing Care company around the UK and they are currently looking to recruit Support Worker / Care Worker to join them in Solihull and other areas. Support Worker / Care Worker - Job Purpose: • Duties will be that of a Support / Care Worker with additional responsibilities. • To enable service users to remain in their own homes by providing the support and care needed to help them achieve maximum independence. • To work “with” service users to achieve outcomes, rather than working “for” them. • To encourage service users regain their confidence all the while promoting their self-respect and dignity. • To provide the highest standard of care provision every day of the year, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Main Duties and Responsibilities: • To undertake duties as identified in the service user plan. • To assist the service user to remain safe and secure at home. • To help the service user to look after own health. • To appropriately record and report any changes in circumstances in the service user’s social or health condition to the care coordinator. • To comply with all risk assessment and to be responsible for notifying your Senior Support Worker / Manager of any changes you think may be necessary. • To notify the Senior Support Worker / Manager of any changes made to the programme of work. • To ensure that electronic monitoring time system is being used and that staff and service users have their correct pin codes. • To participate in the weekly rota. This will include working some weekends and some bank holidays. • To be accountable for your work practice and take responsibility for maintaining and improving your knowledge and skills. • To respect the rights of service users, and to strive to establish and maintain their trust and confidence, and that of their families and personal carers. Support Worker / Care Worker - Scope of Job (Budgetary / Resource Control, Impact): Service users our client provides services for are: General adults or diagnosed with a learning or physical disability, mental health, dementia, end of life. The profile of these services is as high as any in any company. The sensitivity and the complex issues being dealt with in human terms are enormous. The public expectation of high quality services is great. Qualifications and Training: Essential: • NVQ 2 in Care as a minimum or is willing to work towards the qualification. • Numerate and literate. • General care experiences. Desirable: • Knowledge of working in the care sector. Competence Summary (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Experience): Essential: • Good oral and written skills. • A desire to learn new skills. • An ability to understand and follow instructions and procedures. • To know when to act and when to get advice. Desirable: • Experience of caring either in a personal or professional capacity. • An ability to put forward ideas and make suggestions to improve working processes and conditions. • Ability to write brief factual reports. • Ability to cope calmly with unexpected situations. Work-related Personal Requirements: Essential: • Good general health record. • Good attendance and sickness records. • Neat and tidy appearance. • Available to work the set rota. • Available to participate in the Standby rota as agreed. • A positive attitude to change. • Willing to work as part of a team to ensure colleague support and continuity of care for the service users. Other Work Requirements: Essential: • Physically fit, with a good attendance record. • A flexible attitude to short notice changes in work patterns.
