JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Physics and Astronomy is looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to work on the EPSRC funded project "Quantum information extraction from optical fields" under direction of Dr Pieter Kok. The project s goal is to develop protocols for optimizing eavesdropping strategies for optical quantum communication. You will combine analytic insights with intensive numerical simulation (specifically CUDA) to perform classical and quantum parameter estimation on optical fields generated by quantum communication sources. You will have, or be about to obtain,a PhD in quantum optics with a strong emphasis on estimation theory (or have equivalent experience in the field). Closing Date: 5 October 2015
