Employing over 900 people in Scotland, Johnstons are one of Europe’s most successful and innovative companies in the design and manufacture of luxury cashmere and fine woollens. 6 KNITWEAR MANUFACTURING APPRENTICES (HAWICK) Training and developing the future craftsmen and women is crucial for our sustained success. Many of our 900 employees at Johnstons choose to embrace the opportunity to follow a career with us, not just a job. We are seeking to recruit 6 Apprentices who are looking for a career in our team while undertaking structured, on the job training learning critical textile skills from our expert team. In November 2014 The First Minister of Scotland officially opened our Training Centre in Hawick meeting our first intake of 6 Apprentices. We are delighted to now be offering a further 6 places for new Apprentices to be trained in the Training Centre. Training will include the Modern Apprenticeship “Learn whilst you Earn” programme. The successful candidates must be flexible and adaptable, practical and meticulous with high standards of work. Once trained, Apprentices must be able to work using their initiative within a team environment. The departments initially trained in will be Collar Linking, Body Linking and Hand Sewing. Hours of work will be 39 hours per week. The successful applicants will be central to the in-house training initiatives to increase skill levels within the departments including enrolment in the Modern Apprenticeship programme.
