Job Location: Cambridgeshire / West Midlands Job Position: Hybrid and Electronic Systems Engineer Department: Hybrid and Electronic System Team Job Status: Permanent Job Profile: An opportunity exists within the Hybrid and Electronic System Team for an Engineer - Hybrid battery systems to deliver on-going client technology projects. Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications: The successful applicant will have a sound automotive engineering background, a number of years of experience of successfully delivering projects in a controls and electronic environment either in an OEM or Tier 1 capacity having lead teams of engineers. Minimum degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline. Knowledge of battery architectures and cell chemistries used in hybrid & electric vehicles, along with designing high current and automotive high voltage power systems, (connectors, cables, contactors & fusing) Experience of electrical component integration (up to 600V), design & development on low volume or high volume products, particularly HV battery systems and sub systems in a tier 1 or OEM environment Understanding of project delivery within systems engineering. Experience in battery management systems for Hybrid vehicle systems Analytical approach to developing controls algorithms in an automotive environment. Experience in a model-based development languages such as Matlab/Simulink. Familiar with laboratory & field development & test equipment. Experience of DCDC converter and battery charger design and development. Experienced in DFMEA for Electrical Systems Hands on experience of working live with HV systems ( 50V) Familiar with product delivery process from requirements capture through to design validation of hybrid and electric vehicle batteries. Experience in compliance engineering to external standards, such as battery handling, EMC, vehicle safety, functional safety ISO26262 etc Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills Job Description: To work on the electrical integration of hybrid systems from prototype through to full series production on client hybrid and electric vehicle projects Interface directly with clients on technical issues, often working as part of the client engineering team at the client site or any one of the Ricardo offices. Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors to agree the specification of purchased components and delivery requirements for the project. To support lead engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems particularly relating to Hybrid battery systems Work to client quality procedures and validation processes Support the development of future products and services Salary/Rate: Up to £35,000 per annum, plus numerous benefits. £35k pa + +benefits
