JOB DESCRIPTION:

Applications are invited from forward-thinking individuals to join the expanding Consultant team in Neurosurgery. The Neurosurgical Unit is undergoing a planned expansion with increasing subspecialisation following years of steady growth in response to clinical demand, Government and SBNS backed developments and designation as a Major Trauma Centre. We are therefore seeking individual with a specialist interest and expertise in Cranial Surgery vascular / skull base. The Department of Neurosurgery is located across the 2 hospital sites at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital serving a population of approximately 1.2 million people. The service currently consists of 12 Consultant Neurosurgeons 10 substantive and 2 locum who provide a tertiary service covering all Neuro sub – specialities. This post is to replace a consultant after his retirement at end of September 2015. To succeed you must have undergone extensive clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in Neurosurgery, hold your CCST or entry expected within 6 months, and have the ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within the speciality. The establishment of the new Hull York Medical School HYMS has strengthened this Trust which with the Postgraduate Medical School provides enhanced opportunities for education and research. Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from three hospital sites. We serve an extended population of approximately 1.2 million. With an annual budget of circa £481 million and employing approximately 8,000 staff we are committed to the continuous development of services for the benefit of patients and to providing a comprehensive service of the highest possible quality.
