JOB DESCRIPTION:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Intensive Support Team. The Intensive Support Team works with individuals who have a learning disability, with additional complex and high risk needs, who may require a crisis intervention and intensive support to prevent placement breakdown, an admission to hospital or following discharge from an inpatient setting where required. The Intensive Support Team works with people within Birmingham and also people who are out of area to support the transforming care agenda. The Intensive Support Team operates within a broader community learning disability service with which there are close working relationships. Applicants should have experience of working with individuals who have a learning disability and the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in relation to autism, challenging behaviour and mental health within an integrated model of service delivery. The successful applicant will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team that comprises the following professionals: Learning Disability Nurses, Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Health care support workers. Clinical support and supervision will be available from within the team. The post holder will also receive professional supervision and support from an Advanced Occupational Therapist.
