School of Engineering and Computing Applications Engineer Institute of Thin Films, Sensors and Imaging REQ000164 £34,576 - £41,255 (Fixed Term for 12 Months) Paisley Campus University of the West of Scotland is a leading edge modern University at an exciting stage of development. The School of Engineering and Computing is one of the leading players in Thin Films, Sensors and Imaging with extensive expertise in research and development and collaborative working relationships with multinational companies. We are seeking to recruit a talented Applications Engineer to develop a prototype ultrasound probe for the detection of dental disease. This is part of a Scottish Enterprise High Growth Funded project to commercialise research that has taken place in the school. This is an opportunity to work in an exciting and challenging early stage spin-out environment. The successful candidate should possess a doctorate (or equivalent qualification) in physics or in a related discipline and possess demonstrable experience in medical devices, electronics, computer aided design and rapid prototyping. Experience of acoustics and ultrasound is welcomed. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, good project management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team, collaborating with colleaguesand sharing expertise are also essential.
