JOB DESCRIPTION:

Trust Junior Doctor in Haematology The London North West Healthcare NHS Trust is proposing to appoint a Trust Doctor in Haematology. The incumbent will have their main base at Northwick Park Hospital but may be required to also work at the Central Middlesex Site. The successful candidate will be expected to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of patient care and will contribute to service developments. This is a post suitable for a doctor who wishes to pursue a career in Haematology or gain subspecialty experience The post holder will need to: Provide safe and effective care in line with departmental and national guidelines Help to facilitate the departmental Haematology audit programme. Clinical duties will include Examination and treatment of patients attending the department Working with and supporting the Haematology Medicine Team Providing medical back up to the Nurse led services The post holder will take an active role in the clinical and laboratory activities of the department. This will include the day-to-day management of in-patients and weekly outpatient clinics. The department has a large haemato-oncology practice including inpatients with acute leukaemia, high grade lymphoma and multiple myeloma. The trust is a regional expert centre in the treatment of haemoglobinopathies including sickle cell disease. The appointed candidate will have both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities day assessment unit, together with contributing to departmental activities, including clinical audit. There is an established weekly in-house training program including departmental seminar series Thursday AM, microscopy sessions Friday AM and clotting Wednesday AM. This is a large department and the haematology consultant body are keen educators with subspecialty interests. London North West Healthcarewas created on 1st October 2014 as a result of the merger of the North West London Hospitals and Ealing Hospital. The hospitals are set in the London Boroughs of Harrow, Ealing and Brent and serve a local population of more than 7000,000 plus patients referred from throughout the UK and abroad. The turnover of the Trust is in the region of £450 million with 7,000 WTE staff. It is one of the biggest and busiest Trusts in the capital.
