We are looking for a Senior Vehicle Designer in Derby. Purpose of the job Technically lead and manage the development of platform/product s Digital Mock:Ups (DMU) . Create manage the DMU within the BT design tool CATA V5. The role is to be undertaken from early pre sales platform stage development, through the bid process and into a project concept design, with responsibility to ensuring alignment with BT s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Master Modelling processes and the implementation of platform solutions being developed within the Central Technology Office (CTO). Key responsibilities and challenges : Lead the conceptual development of a platform/product DMU and design solutions based on contractual and tender documentation, Bombardier s legal obligations, policies and procedures and the standard platform solutions. Working in partnership with Systems Engineers and Industrial Designers to develop a verified DMU. Reporting to the designated Vehicle Engineer communicating the design to the designated Vehicle Engineer and wider project team. : Ensure that space envelops and locations are allocated and the interfaces between the identified zones and key components are identified. This is to be conducted considering static and dynamic cases, for design, manufacturing, delivery, maintenance and operation modes. All information represented in the DMU is to documented to its level of maturity and managed through the design phases of the platform, bid and project, to ensure the DMU configuration is known and managed. Identify technical areas of risk with respect to the spatial interfaces both under static and dynamic for design manufacturing maintenance and operational modes, identifying the necessary mitigation actions and conducted. Manage the platform/product mass to achieve targets.. : Act as the Master Modeler for the DMU on a platform, bid or a project during conceptual design, ensuring that the master modelling process is executed within the framework of the process under the specific project constraints whilst maintaining the robustness and discipline required. Ensure the Master Modelling process is respected, post concept phase of the project through to realization, with the DMU configuration is known at all points, and based line at each phase. : Developing the key stakeholder relationship with Central Technology Office (CTO), to ensure the product designs are aligned with the developed CTO platforms and processes. Maximize reuse within a product platform solutions, while minimizing changes across the interfaces. : Keep abreast of technological developments and incorporating them into BT products and engineering processes where appropriate and contribute to strategic decisions on tools and processes within the Engineering ensuring Lessons Learnt are fed back into the process etc. Ensure a coherent plans and programs are developed to ensure the platform / product DMU to achieved to Quality, Cost , Delivery (QCD) Qualifications : Degree and/or Chartered status essential, Masters Degree desirable. : Technical domain experience essential, System Integration experience essential, System Architectural understanding essential. : Evidence of having successfully technically led the development of a new train design, or significant vehicle integration rol
