Quality Assurance Manager / QA / Food Standards / Manufacturing Salary £45,000 - £55,000 pa depending on skills Hitchin, Hertfordshire Commutable from Milton Keynes, Luton and Stevenage Our client is a leading developer and manufacturer of natural products and extracts to the Healthcare, Cosmetic and Food & Drinks industries. With over one hundred and sixty years of experience they have stayed true to a love of nature and their roots in botanicals but have adapted to harness the latest in scientific techniques and to meet the changing needs of markets and customers. They currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of released API’s, excipients and food/beverage ingredients in accordance with EU GMP and BRC food standards. Providing leadership to develop staff and QMS in line with the corporate vision for the site, you will develop annual quality improvement plans and chair monthly site quality meetings using trends and data to review and improve performance. You will also provide quality oversight to the OBG Board and input to strategic and capital decision making processes. You must ensure that product is manufactured, tested and released in compliance to EU GMP as well as ensuring management systems are in place, in use, effective and continually improving. You will also be responsible for the flow of products through the QC laboratory and the batch review processes in order to achieve on time delivery to customer. Other responsibilities include leadership of critical quality incidents e.g. customer complaints, deviations, recall and the coaching, mentoring and development of staff for site or group programs e.g. graduate program. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Life Science and will have relevant experience within the food or pharmaceutical industry including managerial experience. Experience of QMS improvement is essential combined with qualification and validation knowledge, experience of external audits and knowledge of current GMP requirements. An understanding of Lean/Six sigma is also required as well as a proven track record of delivering improvements, problem solving and effective leadership skills. They are looking for someone who shows drive and determination and who possesses excellent organisational skills.
