JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Laser Dept Supervisor / Shift Supervisor Lasers is required for a large steel processing company based in the Dudley area of the West Midlands. Duties include overseeing the laser department on a 3 shift rota, supervising staff, running tube laser cutters, organising production and planning. Permanent contract working 3 shifts including nights. Salary for the role is up to £27.5K per annum for the right person. The company are a leading manufacturer of pipe and tube products to a wide range of industries, supplying all over the UK and Europe. The role requires you to effectively manage the day to day operations on shift including production, planning, manpower, staff performance, quality and problem solving Duties include - Supervising the Tube Laser cutting department, overseeing up to 6 machines and operating staff Ensuring all works orders are correctly planned out and allocated to machinery / manpower Organizing of lead times Supporting the production manager with any day to day shop floor tasks Overall quality of stock being produced, regular inspections and pass off s if required Feeding back to management daily on team performance and KPI targets Performing disciplinaries, dealing with staff rota s, sickness, absenteeism and holidays Hands on setting and running of machinery if and when required Ensuring all site health & safety policies are met and adhered to Applicants MUST have experience within a supervisory role, have an excellent understanding of Tube laser cutting machinery, and be able to manage numbers of staff across a shift pattern. Must be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills. Must also hold certification of training within health & safety, overhead crane operating, and also have excellent PC literacy skills. The position is a permanent contract, however will need to serve a 3 month probationary period. Working hours are 3 shifts rotating 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm Mon to Fri, Nights 10pm - 6am Sun to Thurs. Annual salary for the role is up to £27.5K basic per annum. Overtime available after 40hrs per week, paid at Time & 1/3 weekday, Time & 1/2 Saturday, Double Time Sunday.
