JOB DESCRIPTION:

An extremely successful engineering business is looking for a young and talented engineering apprentice to join their business. Our client is looking for someone who has a real passion for engineering and the drive & determination to build a career in engineering. You will need to have a flair for fixing and building things and also be strong problem solver. The training will take place in our new academy which is based in Hockley, Birmingham. You will attend a 6 week pre-apprenticeship programme where you will spend 2 days a week in the academy gaining your level 1 Certificate in Engineering. Once you have successfully completed the Level 1 Certificate you will move onto your apprenticeship, which will require you to attend the academy 1 day a week which will be spent either in the classroom or workshop. This time will allow you to learn everything necessary in which to gain your Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and Diploma in Engineering and Technology. The other 4 days will be spent with the employer where you will gain valuable work based experience. Once you have successfully completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship you will be given the opportunity to progress onto our Level 3 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations. Our client will give you support to enable you to achieve your qualifications and develop as an engineer to ensure you have a prosperous career. Duties will include:- Being effective and efficient in the workplace Having an effective use of hand and power tools Being able to understand the uses of metals and materials in manufacturing Maintaining and fixing mechanical engineering machinery Knowing how electrical operations affect machinery Knowing how components work and contribute to machine operations Following Health and Safety regulations in the workplace The successful candidate must have a flexible, enthusiastic attitude with good team working ability. The ability to follow instruction and self-motivation is also a pre requisite. Good IT skills are also essential combined with a minimum of 5 GCSE s grade A - C including Maths and English or equivalent. This is open to 16-18 year olds.
