JOB DESCRIPTION:

My client is currently looking for a a Design Engineer who will take responsibility for the development of new products and provide both inward and outward facing engineering support for both established and new products. The role includes the following aspects: o To develop new concepts in accordance with customer requirements. o To prepare new product quotations which are both cost effective and commercially viable and pass to the Sales Manager for final approval. o To understand the commercial significance of projects and the importance of controlling costs, meeting project timing and customer project approval. o To produce high quality designs of products, sub-components and moulds, which have been well considered for efficient manufacture. o To generate CAD drawings either from hand sketches or from existing product. o To continually look to develop efficient methods of collating project information including drawings, internal requisitions, original parts, range lists etc. o Assess and solve arising technical problems. o Liaise closely with production to ensure the correct and timely manufacture of products from initial concept through to final stock levels being met. o Ensure you have a current, in depth understanding of our manufacturing process and products manufactured. o Visit Customers to ensure correct fitting of new products and follow the product through the first year of its life and write reports on findings for both internal and marketing purposes. o To write technical reports to help the sales team promote the product both internally and externally. o Liaise with Marketing for the update of website, face book and twitter on a regular basis with new product and market relevant news. o To purchase component parts where required. o To support sales and marketing including attending trade shows. o We have no demarcation and all employees are expected to carry out any task or role that they are both safe and capable of doing. The Person o Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline. o Knowledge of suspension systems and components. o A sound understanding of manufacturing techniques. o The ability to read and understand engineering drawings. o A sound understanding of CAD (ideally Solid Works or similar). o Possess excellent analytical skills. o Possess excellent communication skills. o The ability to write Technical information sheets. The Offer Remuneration: o £24,500 per annum. o The post holder will also be eligible for the annual Company bonus scheme (after 12 months service) and Company pension scheme. Conditions: o 31 days holiday per annum including statutory holidays. o Holidays are earned at 1.67 days per complete month of service in the first year. o Three or more days if applicable, of your holiday entitlement must be saved for the Christmas shutdown. o Four or five days from your holiday entitlement must be saved for one of the spring or summer shutdowns. o Standard hours: 8:30 to 5:00 Monday to Thursday; Friday; 8:30 to 4:30 o The job requires working outside these hours, including 6 days of weekend work. o Salaries are paid monthly in the last week of the month. o The Company holds back the first week of pay. o Payment is direct into the employee''s account. o Days off sick are not paid for.
