Required education: Essential Criteria: Ability to read technical drawings; mechanical aptitude and interest; desire to keep up-to-date with changing technology; ability to use manufacturing tools and equipment to perform tasks requiring precision (machine saw, hand saw, air rivet gun, hand drill, welding equipment, etc); ability to solve problems. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a background in commercial vehicle build.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB DUTIES : Construct whole body and roof sections; determine the requirements and the steps needed to do the job by interpreting scale-drawing dimensions to produce full size components; develop a layout (design or pattern); draw accurate guidelines on the components showing where to cut, drill, bend and carry out other types of work, using measuring and marking off tools and equipment; lay-out plate, aluminium or other heavy metal and locate and mark bending and cutting lines; construct framework sections in metal, composite plastics and other materials by working from engineering drawings and by using shaping machinery and all types of welding and cutting equipment; form complete framework by welding or bolting sections to the vehicle s frame; fit and tack weld parts together using electric arc welding equipment; make the panels used to cover the framework by cutting, shaping and attaching panels of sheet metal, aluminium, stainless steel or reinforced plastic.
