Band 6 - Occupational Therapist Part time Stroke Specialist Barts Health Stroke Service: Whipps Cross Community Stroke Team An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our nationally renowned Stroke Pathway at Barts Health. This is a perfect post for OT’s hoping to consolidate their Band 6 and leadership skills but equally we have an excellent reputation for developing experienced Band 5 OT’s. This is permanent part time 0.5 position within the Community Stroke Team The post holder will gain experience assessing and developing treatment programs for Stroke survivors living in the community. We are committed to provision of high quality patient centred care combined with clinical excellence and involvement in clinical research. They will also gain and develop leadership skills, but also have the opportunity to support the development of the OT role within each service area, and be involved in the design/implementation of clinical pathways. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to team of other OT’s, Rehab Support Workers and develop close working with other members of the MDT. The service operates a seven day service, covering core hours between 8am and 6pm, working 7.5 hours daily either as an early or late shifts. Weekend working would involve working across the stroke pathway. The service has a strong and well established training and education programme, along with robust personal development review programme to support staff with their learning and development. All the specialist OT’s will be expected to participate in joint clinical sessions with their peers and the Stroke Lead. We are looking for an OT with experience working with neurological patients across the care pathway. Individuals should have strong clinical skills and teaching skills as well as particular knowledge in cognitive assessment and rehabilitation, and low level psychological assessment and interventions. The successful candidate will display a strong commitment to patient centred and evidence based care, and be innovative, creative and dynamic. Potential candidates should have current HPC registration and ideally be a current member of BAOT and specialist interest group, along with evidence of post-graduate study. You must have experience working within the NHS across a number of clinical areas, and at least 6 months working within the field of neurology.
