Job Details Assistant Project Archaeologist Job Description The purpose of the job is to assist with archaeological project work through the efficient application of best working practice, so that Archaeological Services produces a quality product to our clients within timetable and budget constraints. Archaeological Services Durham University is a component of the Archaeology Department which provides fieldwork and consultancy services to the development, environmental and heritage industries. It also supports departmental teaching and research, for example through the provision of research fieldwork and student training programmes. The range of activities conducted is wide, and includes geophysical surveying, excavation works, artefact conservation, graphics, and palaeoenvironmental analysis. The focus of operations is in northern Britain, although works are often conducted elsewhere in the UK and abroad. The principal duty of the post holder will be to assist with a variety of project-based work, but the post-holder is also expected to enhance their skills through training and instruction from Archaeological Services personnel. The posts are fixed term for 9 months. Working hours will be 35 per week, Monday to Friday.
