- Research & Development - Denmark - Måløv Worldwide, millions of people are suffering from Obesity and Type 2 diabetes. We need a dedicated manager to lead our Obesity and Diabetes Pharmacology department. About the department The department is organised within the Incretin and Obesity Research Novo Nordisk A/S. It is located in Måløv, Copenhagen, Denmark. The department is responsible for large animal in vivo pharmacological evaluation of peptide and protein compounds in the discovery and development phase of diabetes and obesity research projects. Novo Nordisk is a world leader in diabetes care and has a high employee commitment and satisfaction. It will be your responsibility to manage and secure such standards of a high performing group of 2 teamleaders, 6 academics, 17 technicians and 17 students. The job The specific responsibility of the department is to be the leading experts within obesity, diabetes, GLP-1 and incretin pharmacology, to have strong biological and pharmacological insight on current and new projects, and to support the discovery projects with in vivo data. The department is expected to run state-of-the-art in vivo studies in non-rodent animal models, and it is your responsibility to secure high quality data and solid delivery. New target generation is crucial, and you are expected to drive innovation and generation of new project ideas in the department.You will be responsible for managing and developing a team of highly dedicated research scientists and technicians. It is your job to set the strategic direction and business targets of the department, to develop people and to ensure a motivating working environment.You will be part of the management team of the function, in which strategic planning, goal setting, as well as overall resource distribution and prioritization will be performed. Qualifications You hold a degree in veterinary medicine, medicine or related area. You have a PhD or equivalent postgraduate scientific background and have solid hands-on experience with in vivo pharmacology (PK and PD) in large animals, preferably within the area of obesity, diabetes and incretins. The preferred candidate will also have experience from the pharmaceutical industry and a strong scientific network.You have at least 5 years of people management experience and strong leadership qualities. You have authority but at the same time, you are a team player able to engage and motivate people. You have a strong drive, are flexible, have excellent communication and coaching skills, and are fluent in English.
