JOB DESCRIPTION:
As part of the Blick group at Ringier you will be in charge of assessing our current portfolio and improving it. This would imply holistic work and knowledge of our back end and front end, and doing the necessary work at both ends when required. You will also perform user research and testing with a goal to improve our current applications, and also provide new ideas and avenues for application development. You understand how to design and develop applications that build on top of current use practices with existing media. You are not afraid to work on multiple projects at a time and are also comfortable to work independently and within a team, switching roles when necessary. Also, you follow the latest trends in web design and development and have the hands-on knowledge on organizing knowledge transfer workshops and tutorials. Altogether, you are the person that bridges the gap between UX Research and Engineering and feels comfortable at both, conducting scientific research in the UX domain and developing solutions. You are the person that gets the job done and transitions between back end and front end development; working alone and leading a team; project vision and concrete implementation; user experience research and evaluating and presenting the impact of the developed improvements to top management. Required skills: - Masters in Computer Science/Informatics (PhD preferred) - Experience with Java back end development, Apache, Tomcat, MySQL - Experience with rapid development frameworks that work on top of Spring and Hybernate - Experience with the latest web technologies: JavaScript, jQuery, Web Sockets, HTML5, CSS3, PHP - Experience with user centered design methodologies, e.g., contextual inquiry, observations, surveys - Excellent command of German and English (spoken and written)
