Title: Engineering Manager Our client requires a permanent Engineering Manager to join their leading subcontract engineering team, supplying products to a host of major sectors. The company operates from a large manufacturing facility in Sheffield The company are heavily investing in its employees and the site itself by increasing machine numbers by 20% in the last 24 months Specialist in bespoke profiles and fabrications, offering a healthy package with pension and holiday allowance of 30days pa. The successful Engineering Manager will have prior experience working in a fast paced production engineering and manufacturing industry, with prior experience and understanding of engineering processes from welding, plating, cnc machining, cnc laser profiling, cnc pressing, paint spraying of manufactured components for automotive, agricultural, rail, construction industry. Effectively manage and develop production process and flow across the plant, including all layout and systems Achieve effective, efficient, quality driven and safe production across the whole site Managing Production Supervisors, Team Leaders and production staff across Fabrication, Machine Shop, Spray Shop and Despatch areas Liaising with Production Manager, Quality Manager, Estimator, Planning Engineer, Scheduler, HR and other Pre-Production related colleagues The daily duties of the Engineering Manager will be as follows: *Plan, lead and oversee the site production and schedule of works through the shop *Control strategy and key performance indicators. *Monitor, drive and control all manufacturing processes (such as material cutting times, pressing, fabrication and welding, painting, pre-assembly and despatch *Control and report key performance indicators/ measures and delivery performance; control cost queries, quality and delivery issues and all other internal quality, cost and or bottleneck constraints across the plant. *Utilisation of staff, materials, processes and overall production flow including compliance with health and safety standards. *Manage skills flexibility, product quality, delivery times on jobs and cost requirements. *Effectively control, manage and eliminate faults/ errors and drive throughput improvement The Engineering Manager will also need to have experience in managing and implementing continuous improvement processes through lean manufacturing techniques, adopted throughout the company production area, including single piece flow principles (or equivalent). Improve efficient production planning and removal any non-value added activities through each of the products/ manufacturing processes. Encourage and facilitate improvements promoted from the employee teams. Lead and motivate colleagues through positive attitude and support day to day. Measure, report and manage performance indicators within each team/ area of business Support new product introduction and quality processes at all times People / culture development and training in alignment with new methods, products or processes being introduced. Ensure TPM procedures and activities are developed and maintained. Prior experienced of working adhering to IS) 9001/ISO14001 standards. Manage H&S and Environmental activities and improvements. Risk analysis and risk reduction.
