Data Scientist/Data Analyst (R/ Hadoop/ MySQL/ Security Cleared/Java/Python) Job Summary My Client is an expert in managing and exploiting data to reveal actionable intelligence. They use this capability to help government and commercial clients address risk, revenue or cost challenges. They currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a number of data scientists to their business based in their Gloucester office, working primarily for government clients. We are seeking talented individuals with strong data and analysis skills and an excellent understanding of data technology. Depending on your skills and interest, you could be working on data innovation R&D work, or designing and prototyping novel data solutions, or working alongside their client’s business and technical staff solving their data problems. You will work with minimum supervision and will have responsibility for shaping the analytical solutions to business problems. My client has have roles for individuals with a data analysis focus available at a range of seniority levels, depending on experience. Because of the nature of the work Developed Vetting (DV) clearance is essential. Without this we are unable to consider your application for this role. Data Scientist/Data Analyst (R/ Hadoop/ MySQL/ Security Cleared/Java/Python) Key Responsibilities Be able to work across the life-cycle of a data project, undertaking data acquisition, exploration, manipulation and analysis as required. Provide expertise on data analysis approaches and data technology options such as analytical tools, and Big Data analytics. Analyse client data problems and requirements, and identify solutions Be able to pick up, configure and exploit various data processing and analysis approaches and platforms. Scripting, as required, to rapidly develop solutions Client-facing, will build a strong and trusted working relationship with the client Mandatory Skills and Experience Required Comfortable handling and manipulating data, with demonstrated experience in a data-intensive setting e.g. data analysis, data management, data product or research and innovation Able to script or code data processing approaches, ideally in at least one of Python, Java, Scala, MapReduce or SQL. Analytical and problem solving skills using data analysis or statistical techniques Hands-on experience with at least one of the following data technologies: Commercial or open source data analysis tools (e.g. R, SAS) Big Data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark) Relational or NoSQL databases (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, Mongo) Business intelligence and ETL (e.g. Oracle, Parquet, Redshift) Data visualisation and design (e.g. Tableau, Qlikview) Self-motivation; able to manage own work and that of others with minimal supervision, whilst setting expectations by communicating progress and issues as required.
