- Research & Development - Denmark - Måløv Are you an experienced scientist and looking to accelerate and further grow your career in a fast-paced biopharmaceutical environment? Join Global Research at Novo Nordisk A/S and work with us to change the course of human health! The Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. The Global Research Unit consists of app. 1.500 highly qualified Scientists, PhDs/PostDocs and Lab Technicians and we conduct our world class research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing and Seattle. About the department The Department of Protein Science is part of the global Protein Engineering function area, involved in the discovery and development of proteins and peptides for treatment of diabetes and obesity. We are organized in three teams dedicated to recombinant protein production, MS characterisation and analysis method development. The MS characterisation team currently consists of 5 scientists, 7 technicians and 1 PhD student. The job The MS characterisation team is using state-of-the-art mass spectrometers in combination with liquid chromatography for the analysis of peptides and proteins from early discovery projects to first human dose. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced team working on numerous aspects of biotherapeutic drug candidate analysis including in-depth protein and impurity characterisation and stability assessment to support protein analogue design. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexible working skills and shares expertise of cutting edge mass spectrometry equipment and data analysis skills with other team members. In addition to the development and implementation of novel methodologies for MS characterisation you also coach and mentor technical staff members. Qualifications You hold a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a related discipline and 1-4 years of work experience as a (Senior) Research Scientist or closely related role. Previous employment in biopharmaceutical industry would be beneficial. Specialization in protein mass spectrometry (Orbitrap and TOF MS) in combination with liquid chromatography is required and extensive experience in MS approaches and methods for the detailed chemical structure determination of peptides and proteins are essential. Experience in mapping protein isoforms and disulfide bonds or native mass spectrometry would be a plus. Finally, since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, good interpersonal communicative skills and excellent English language skills are essential. Global Research is an organisation with many international employees and we welcome non-local applicants.
