Magical Maths has an exciting opportunity for a Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team based in Nottingham. This is a part time position offering a competitive rate of pay. Magical Maths is the award winning leader in teaching maths in a fun way. We have a series of characters that will visit the children. We use puzzles, games and tricks to engage children with maths. Magical Maths clubs are quite the spectacle; we’ve got Professor Poopenshtinken, the maths genius, world class detectives, mind reading magicians and eccentric athletes, all dedicated to making maths fun at primary schools. The Primary Teaching Assistant role will entail partnering with numerous Primary Schools around the LEA to deliver maths programmes. We are looking for people to deliver lessons, and potentially assemblies and holiday camps. You will have the opportunity to work with lots of different schools. Lessons and holiday schools, your Magical Maths Teacher duties will include: - You will be responsible for a class of children. - You will be responsible for registering the children, and ensuring they are safely collected by their parents/guardians at the end of the lesson. - You will be responsible for a team of teaching support staff, and ensure they are prepared. - You will ensure the Magical Maths lesson content is delivered correctly, and that learning objectives are being achieved. - You will ensure the lessons are conducted in a fun yet safe manner. - You will ensure that you and your support staff have all the resources required for each activity (as provided by Magical Maths), and that everything is prepared in advance of the lessons. - You will ensure that you have a strong relationship with the contact in each school (usually the Head Teacher or the Maths Coordinator). You will be their direct point of contact. - You will be the first point of contact for the parents/guardians of the children in your classes. You must be prepared to provide feedback to them about their child’s performance as and when requested. For assemblies, your Primary Teaching Assistant duties will include: - Perform assemblies in schools to get children excited about maths and encourage them to come along to a Magical Maths programme (following a script and set structure). - The assembly will be 10-15 minutes, and then you will go around the classrooms, engaging with the children about the assembly. You will be in the school for an hour and a half in total. - Ensure schools have the relevant details to include in their school newsletters, website, parents email and text systems. - Follow up to increase sign ups in clubs. - Ensure that you have a strong relationship with the contact in each school (usually the Head Teacher or the Maths Coordinator). You will be their direct point of contact. Use the below questions to help you decide whether this role is right for you: - Are you a natural leader? Experience in a management or supervisor role would be preferable, but is not essential. - Are you happy being in charge of a class of children and a team of teaching assistants? - Are you willing to travel to different schools around the LEA? - Do you have a full driver’s license and your own vehicle? - Do you have a passion for inspiring others to succeed? - Do you have a love of working with children? - Do you possess excellent organisation skills? - Are you comfortable doing assemblies/presenting in front of an audience? - Do you have the ability to engage an audience? - Do you have the ability to be an ambassador for maths, and help make maths magical for primary school children? If you answered ‘yes’ to the majority of the questions, then you should definitely apply to become our Primary Teaching Assistant Hours: During term time, you will be doing 1 after school enrichment lessons a day. You may also have the opportunity to run assemblies. There may be the opportunity to do holiday camps during the school holidays. This is an exciting opportunity to join
